In October 2019, we took a trip to Frankfurt, Germany. We flew on TAP Air Portugal ?? from Lisbon, Portugal. The flight was fine but there were a lot of rules for this airline. For example, we were not allowed to have a blanket during takeoff and landing. Our arrival was kinda rocky because my son’s stroller was lost. My son, who was 3 at the time, became tired and wanted to sit in his stroller and it wasn’t available. I was ready to scream but maintained control, filed a lost property claim with the airline, and went to locate my private transportation to take us to the hotel. I had booked our private transportation through Expedia. It was only for roundtrip transportation to and from the airport.
The ride to the hotel was less than 20 minutes. We stayed at the Hilton Frankfurt Centre City. This is a full-service hotel. Check-in was a breeze. It was late and all we wanted to do was go to the room, freshen up and get some food. Our room was nice. We had a one-bedroom suite that offered drinks in the fridge and snacks which was convenient. There was also a nice large window in the living room area that had a great view.
Later that night I was contacted and was advised that our stroller had been found and it would be delivered to our hotel! I was so excited. We had plans to explore Frankfurt and having a stroller was helpful and convenient. We did not have a car during our stay but were able to get around by Uber and taxis without any issues. The ride around town was very scenic.
One of the main attractions in Germany is the Romerberg. This area is known as the quaintest square in the city is walled by photogenic medieval houses, a church, and historic administrative buildings. There was a lady there making bubbles for the kids. Our son loved it! The other kids had a blast watching and chasing the bubbles.
The entire area is very touristy. Beware of the panhandlers! People will approach you for money in these areas. Simply tell them no and keep it moving. There are plenty of places to get good food. You can’t go to Germany without trying one of the world’s famous bratwurst sausages. The taste was really authentic. It was so delicious! Our son even enjoyed it and he is a very picky eater.
Every night at the hotel, we got room service for dinner. After being out all day long, the last thing I wanted to do was take our cranky toddler to a restaurant. It was very convenient to get room service. Our stay also included breakfast so in the morning we would go to the lounge and grab a bite to eat.
Other than seeing the main attractions, we would walk around close to the hotel to see different sights. The hotel was close to all the main attractions.
Overall, this was an awesome trip. We were also able to see a family member who is serving in the military near Frankfurt. This was a special moment! The Hilton Frankfurt Centre City received a thumbs up from the Around the World Kid! ??
